What We Believe

Wilton Bible Church is a non-denominational independent Bible church that holds a very high view of Scripture. God's Word is our authority and Christ is our Head. We are conservative in philosophy of ministry and practice.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide a place to fulfill the great commission while providing a home where Christians can grow together under the preaching of God's Word. We believe that the Gospel Changes Lives at the moment of conversion and continues to change our lives as we grow in Christlikeness.

THE BIBLE

We believe the Holy Scriptures to be powerful and important in the Christians life. The Holy Scripture is written by God and therefore without error.

GOD

We believe there is one living and true God, existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe God had no beginning and He will have no end. He is the creator of all things.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe Jesus became man so that he could live a perfect life and die in mankind's place. We believe because of Christ’s death burial and resurrection; we can have a relationship with God. Currently Jesus is at the right hand of God in heaven.

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. It is the work of the Holy Spirit through salvation which regenerates all believers.

MANKIND

We believe mankind was created in the image and likeness of God. Adam’s sin in the garden has brought death, and separation from God, for all mankind.

SALVATION

We believe Salvation is a gift from God and received when a person believes in the work of Christ on his behalf.

THE CHRISTIAN

We believe the Christian has been freed from the demands of the Mosaic Law and are set apart unto the Lord for His Glory.

MISSIONS

We believe that it is the obligation of the saved to witness by life, and by word, and to seek to proclaim the gospel to all mankind.

SATAN

We believe Lucifer, a fallen angel, provided the temptation for the first sin. Satan is the open and declared enemy of God and man.

THE END TIMES

We believe in a pre-tribulation and pre-millennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe after the seven years of tribulation Christ will return and set up His Millennial Kingdom.

THE CHURCH

We believe the Church, as the Body of Christ, is composed of all who have put their faith in Christ. The local Church is a body of professing believers assembling for mutual exhortation. We hold that the local church has an absolute right of self-government and are to be led by Christ through the Holy Spirit.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

We believe God is sovereign in giving spiritual gifts. We believe speaking in tongues and other sign miracles ceased at the completion of the New Testament Scriptures.

THE LORD'S SUPPER

We believe in the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper in which all believers are to commemorate the death of Christ.

BAPTISM

We believe in believers’ baptism. The Christian is to be baptized by immersion in water to show our identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

ETERNAL STATE

We believe the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord. We believe that the souls of the unbelievers are, at death, in conscious misery because of their personal sin.
